Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a convenient/safe and highly precise method for measuring the content of a water-absorbing resin in a hygienic material or absorbent article. [Solution] A method for measuring the content of a water-absorbing resin having a water-soluble cation in the form of an ion-dissociating group in a hygienic material, an absorbent article, or an intermediate product in the manufacturing process thereof that includes the water-absorbing resin, wherein A) a step for measuring the amount of a predetermined water-soluble cation in a standard sample including a known amount of the water-absorbing resin and creating a calibration curve indicating the relationship between the amount of the water-absorbing resin and the amount of the predetermined water-soluble cation in the standard sample on the basis of the obtained measurement result, B) a step for measuring the amount of the predetermined water-soluble cation in a measurement sample of the hygienic material, absorbent article, or intermediate product in the manufacturing process thereof, the measurement sample comprising a portion including the water-absorbing resin, and C) a step for calculating, through use of the calibration curved created in step A), the amount of the water-absorbing resin in the measurement sample from the amount of the predetermined water-soluble cation measured in step B). A measurement method in which step A) and step B) include measuring the amount of the predetermined water-soluble cation using an ion-selective electrode method, and include steps M1) and M2), where M1) is a step (pre-processing step) for immersing the sample in an aqueous solution including a total ionic strength adjusting agent, and M2) is a step for measuring the amount of the predetermined water-soluble cation in the pre-processed supernatant liquid obtained in step M1).
