Abstract:
Disclosed is an identification medium wherein a pattern clearly switches when observed through a right-handed circular polarization filter and a left-handed circular polarization filter. The medium has a structure wherein, from the side of observation, a cholesteric liquid crystal layer (101), which has been hologram-processed, a λ/4 plate (102), and a linear polarization filter layer (103) have been layered. In observations made through a circular polarization filter through which selected reflected light from the cholesteric liquid crystal layer (101) passes, by means of the function of a circular polarization layer (104), the light reflected from a pattern-printed layer (105) is not observed, and when switching the left and right circular polarization filters, the observed image clearly switches.
