Abstract:
Disclosed are an idle state terminal device detection method and related device. The method comprises: sending a first system message, wherein the first system message comprises a first field, and the first field is used for indicating an idle state terminal device to periodically initiate random access; and receiving a random access request sent by the idle state terminal device, such that the idle state terminal device enters a connected state. A network device sends the first system message carrying the first field to the terminal device, and the terminal device in an idle state periodically initiates the random access to the network device, so as to realize the connection between the terminal device and the network device. The network device learns whether there is a terminal device in the current coverage range.
