Claims:
C L A I M S

1. Ignition coil, in particular for an internal combustion engine characterised in that of providing a transformer (l) equipped with output terminals (2) of the windings having male form; an electronic circuit (3) equipped with devices (4) for connecting output terminals (2) having female form suitable for engagement with the output terminals (2);

2. Coil according to claim 1, characterised in that the devices (4) for connecting output terminals (2) are suitable for a double contact with said output terminals ( 2) ;

3. Coil according to claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the devices (4) for connecting output terminals (2) are of a saddle form;

4. Coil according to claim 1, characterised in that of providing a container (6) equipped with housings (7) having female form suitable for housing the output terminals (2) ;

Coil according to claim 1, characterised in that of providing: a connector (8) which is equipped with peripheral elements (9) having male form; an electronic circuit (3) equipped with devices (5) for connecting peripheral elements (9) having female form suitable for engagement with said peripheral elements (9);

Coil according to claims 1 and 5 characterised in that the devices (4) for connecting output terminals (2) are positioned in the lower portion (b) of the electronic circuit (3) in the direction of the high tension output and the devices (5) for connecting the peripheral elements (9) are positioned in the upper portion (a) of the electronic circuit (3) in the direction opposed to the high tension output.

Coil according to claims i to 6, characterised in that of providing a transformer (l) equipped with output terminals (2) housed in the housings (7) of container (6) and engaged with the devices (4) for connecting output terminals (5) of an electronic circuit (3) furthermore equipped with devices (5) for connecting peripheral elements (9) engaged with said peripheral elements (9) of the connector (8).

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

An ignition coil with connecting devices without welding.

The ignition coil which is the subject of the present invention also provides structural solutions which improve assembly times, including automatic assembly, for the various parts which make up the ignition coil

STATE OF THE ART

Ignition coils are known with connections made by means of welding. These connecting welds have the disadvantage of being unreliable because of pollution of the high tension coils due to particles of the material used for the welds in the electrical connections of said known coils.

DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

The present invention advantageously resolves the drawbacks of unreliability because of said possible pollution of the high tension coils due to particles of the material used for the welds in the electrical connections of the known coils.

The ignition coil which is the subject of the present invention, in particular for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, is provided with a transformer equipped with output terminals for the windings having male form. Said coil also provides an electronic circuit equipped with connecting devices positioned in the lower portion, and other connecting devices positioned in the upper portion, of said electronic circuit. The connecting devices positioned in the lower portion of the electric circuit have a female form suitable for engagement with the output terminals of the transformer. Said devices for connecting to the output terminals of the transformer are preferably of a form suitable for a double contact with said output terminals, preferably of saddle form.

The coil which is the subject of the present invention furthermore provides a container equipped with housings of female form, suitable for housing the output terminals of the windings of the transformer.

The coil which is the subject of the present invention is also composed of a connector provided with peripheral elements of male form suitable for connection to devices positioned in the upper portion of the electronic circuit. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Figure i shows a perspective view of the transformer (l) of the coil which is the subject of the present invention equipped with output terminals (2) of the windings having male form. Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the electronic circuit (3) of said coil and the devices (4) for connecting to said output terminals of saddle form for a double-contact connection to the output terminals (2) of the transformer (1), said terminals being positioned in the lower portion (b) of said electronic circuit (3) in the output direction of the high tension and the devices (5) for connecting to the peripheral elements (9) of the connector (8) positioned in the upper portion (a) of said electronic circuit (3) in the direction opposed to the high tension output.

Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the container (6) equipped with housings (7) having female form; Figure 4 shows a perspective view of the connector (8) equipped with peripheral elements (9) having male form.

Figure 5 shows an exploded perspective view of the complete coil which is the subject of the present invention, positioned according to the assembly procedure for said parts which make up said coil. The transformer (1) equipped with output terminals (2) of the transformer (1), the housings (7), not visible in the drawing, of the container (6), the electronic circuit (3) equipped with devices (4) for connecting to said output terminals (2) and the devices (5) for connecting to the peripheral elements (9), the peripheral elements (9) and the connector (8). The coil which is the subject of the present invention can be used on any internal combustion engine.
