Abstract:
An ignition coil comprises a thermal stress-relieving member with an optimum wall thickness. An ignition coil comprises a housing, a rod-like center core (54) provided in substantially the middle in the housing, a thermal stress-relieving member (52) covering the external periphery of the center core (54), a hollow cylinder-like spool (4) provided at the outer periphery side of the thermal stress- relieving member (52) with a gap (9) between the spool and the stress-relieving member, and a resin insulation material (8a) filled in the gap (9) and hardened. The thermal stress-relieving member (52) is wound on the center core (54). The wall thickness of the thermal stress-relieving member (52) is set such that thermal stress applied by thermal deformation of the center core (54) to the resin insulation material (8a) can be relieved to a saturation value.
