Abstract:
Provided is an ignition control device with which it is possible to suppress wear of an ignition plug resulting from the occurrence of restrikes, without the addition of components. An ECU 123 employed as an ignition control device is provided with: an ignition signal computing unit 203 which computes a start timing and an end timing for re-energization of a primary electric current within one ignition step, and determines whether to implement re-energization by comparing the re-energization end timing and the timing at which the occurrence frequency of restrikes decreases; and an ignition signal generating unit 204 which, after generating an ignition signal for causing at least one spark discharge to occur within the ignition step, and outputting the ignition signal to an ignition coil, generates an ignition signal and outputs the ignition signal to the ignition coil at the re-energization start timing if the ignition signal computing unit has determined that re-energization is to be implemented, and does not generate an ignition signal if the ignition signal computing unit has determined that re-energization is not to be implemented.
