Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an ignition device the cost of which can be reduced, a control method for the ignition device, and an internal combustion engine drive system. [Solution] An ignition device 1 of an embodiment is an ignition device for an internal combustion engine, and is equipped with: a pulse detection unit 2 for detecting pulses G1 through G3 of the same polarity which respectively correspond to reluctors 22a, 22b, 22c disposed on the outer circumference of a rotor 22 of an alternating-current generator 21, which generates electric power by being driven by the internal combustion engine, at irregular intervals in the circumferential direction; and a control unit 3 for performing ignition control of the internal combustion engine on the basis of the pulses G1 through G3 detected by the pulse detection unit 2.
