Title:
IGNITION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/183062
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is an ignition device for an internal combustion engine with which a stable high-current period can be achieved and suitable combustion can be maintained without lengthening the energization time of a main primary coil, and with which an increase in the size of the ignition coil and a significant increase in the overall cost can be prevented. A compact and low-cost ignition coil 11 is configured from: a main primary coil 111a wherein energization magnetic flux that has been increased in the positive direction is sharply reduced by interrupting the current after energization has started; an auxiliary primary coil 111b wherein an overlapping magnetic flux in the opposite direction to the energization magnetic flus is generated by energization; and a secondary coil 112 that generates discharge energy due to the action of the sharply reduced energization magnetic flux and the overlapping magnetic flux. An ignition control means 31 issues an operation instruction to an auxiliary primary coil switch unit 5 that switches between energizing/interrupting current to the auxiliary primary coil 111b, and controls the energization/interruption of current to the main primary coil 111a, thereby holding a secondary current I2 at a high voltage over a long period of time, and enabling stable combustion in the internal combustion engine to be maintained.
