Abstract:
The present invention is configured so that the generation of hydrocarbons during the start-up of a cold internal combustion engine is suppressed by heating the electrode of an ignition plug during the cold start-up, and thereby the manufacturing cost of an exhaust gas catalyst is reduced. The present invention is provided with: an ignition control unit 83 for controlling the electrical discharge of an ignition plug 200 which is provided within a cylinder 150. The ignition control unit 83 is configured so that, in the first combustion cycle after the start of operation of an internal combustion engine 100, the ignition control unit 83 causes the ignition plug 200 to perform an electrical discharge in a state in which fuel is not injected from a fuel injection valve 134 into the cylinder 150.
