Abstract:
This ignition device (1) is equipped with a secondary current command circuit (30) which receives input of a secondary current command signal (IGa) from an electronic control unit (ECU) (4), and a feedback circuit (10) outputs a control signal, which is used to control the energizing of a primary coil (5), to an energy application circuit (9) in accordance with a comparison result between the command value of a secondary current output from the secondary current command circuit (30) and a detection value of the secondary current. In addition, the ECU (4) outputs the secondary current command signal (IGa) in accordance with an engine parameter. Consequently, the secondary current, which substantially indicates the amount of energy applied to an ignition coil (3) from the energy application circuit (9), can be controlled in accordance with an operating state of an engine. Accordingly, the energy amount applied to the ignition coil (3) from the energy application circuit (9) can be suppressed from becoming excessive or insufficient.
