Abstract:
This ignition plug comprises: a cylindrical insulator; a center electrode, the rear end side of which is disposed inside a shaft hole, and the tip end side of which protrudes more toward the tip end side than the insulator; a main body metal fitting disposed on the outer periphery of the insulator; and a ground electrode comprising a connection end which is connected to a tip of the main body metal fitting, and a free end which forms a gap with the center electrode and faces the gap. In a cross section perpendicular to the axis and including the ground electrode and the insulator, when defining the position in the circumferential direction where the distance between the outer peripheral surface of the center electrode and the inner peripheral surface of the insulator is greatest as the first position, and the position in the circumferential direction where the distance between the outer peripheral surface of the center electrode and the inner peripheral surface of the insulator is smallest as the second position, and the range in the circumferential direction between two tangents drawn from the center of the center electrode to the ground electrode as the ground electrode range, then the first position is positioned inside the ground electrode range, the second position is positioned outside the ground electrode range, and the shortest distance between the inner peripheral surface of the ground electrode and the outer peripheral surface of the insulator is 1mm or less.
