Abstract:
A backlight apparatus (12) is provided with: a cold cathode tube (17) wherein electrodes are arranged at the both ends and a light emitting substance is enclosed therein; a chassis (14), which stores the cold cathode tube (17) and has a bottom plate (14a) arranged on the side opposite to the light outgoing side of the cold cathode tube (17); a stand (19) which supports the chassis (14) such that the plate surface of the bottom plate (14a) is arranged in the vertical direction; a cold cathode tube holder (18) which holds the cold cathode tube (17) in a posture parallel to the plate surface of the bottom plate (14a); and a turning means (26) which turns the cold cathode tube (17) in an axial direction intersecting with the plate surface of the bottom plate (14a) with respect to the chassis (14).
