Description:
ILLUMINATING COMPUTER KEYBOARD This invention relates to an illuminating computer keyboard of the type that includes transparent or translucent keys that are backlit and able to illuminate.

Computer keyboards are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage that, when the computer is used in a darkened room, commonly when computer games are being used, the user cannot see the keys on the keyboard. When the keyboard is lit with normal room lighting it is often found to detract the user from the atmosphere of the game.

An object of this invention is to provide an illuminating computer keyboard that allows easy keyboard use in a darkened room.

Accordingly, this invention provides an illuminated computer keyboard including transparent or translucent keys that are backlit and can be illuminated.

Preferably, this keyboard will also allow individual keys to be illuminated and set.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing which: FIGURE 1: shows a plan view of the keyboard As shown in Figure 1, the keyboard comprises a keyboard base 1, with transparent or translucent keys 2.

The enable key 3 allows the keys to be illuminated.

The set/reset key 4 allows the illuminated keys to be set as illuminated, and the keys to be reset as unilluminated.

The illuminating computer keyboard as shown in Figure 1, has a keyboard base 1, transparent or translucent keys 2.

The keyboard will allow all the keys to be illuminated by depressing the enable key 3 twice and the set/reset key 4 once. To reset the keys depress the set/reset key 4 a second time. To illuminate individual keys depress the enable key 3 once, then depress the chosen keys to be illuminated once, and then depressing the set/reset key 4 once. To reset the keys depress the set/reset key 4 a second time. To illuminate a majority of the keys, depress the enable key 3 twice and then depress the chosen keys to be unilluminated once, and then depress the set/reset key 4 once. To reset the keys depress the set/reset key 4 a second time.
