Abstract:
An illuminating device for a display device is provided with: a plurality of discharge tubes (17) arranged in parallel; a supporting member (151) which supports the end portions of the discharge tubes (17); a plurality of connecting terminals (152), which are arranged on the supporting member (151) in parallel to the arrangement direction of the discharge tubes (17), hold the discharge tubes (17) individually, and function as terminals for supplying each of the discharge tubes (17) with drive power; and a plurality of balance elements (56), which are arranged between a power supply (170) and the connecting terminals (152), respectively, and make the current quantities of the drive power to be respectively supplied to the connecting terminals (152) uniform. The balance elements (56) are arranged on the supporting member (151) by being adjacent to the respective corresponding connecting terminals (152) on the outer side in the longitudinal direction of the discharge tube (17).
