Abstract:
The objective of the invention is to arrange that in an edge light type of illumination apparatus, the intensity thereof be enhanced and the occurrence of movement sounds be precluded or suppressed. A backlight apparatus (24) related to the invention comprises a light guide plate (20) having: light incidence surfaces (20a) that are formed on the respective ones of the side walls of the light guide plate (20); a light emergence surface (20b) that is formed on one of the plate surfaces of the light guide plate (20); and an opposite surface (20c) that is opposite to the light emergence surface (20b). The backlight apparatus (24) further comprises: LED boards (30) that are opposed to the respective light incidence surfaces (20a) of the light guide plate (20); LED light sources (28) that are disposed on those surfaces of the LED boards (30) which are opposed to the respective light incidence surfaces (20a); and a backlight chassis (50) that is so formed as to include a chassis part (22) and a frame part (23) and that accommodates the light guide plate (20). The chassis part (22) has a bottom plate (22a) disposed on the side of the opposite surface (20c) of the light guide plate (20). The frame part (23) is a member fixed to the bottom plate (22a) of the chassis part (22) for sandwiching and holding, in the thickness direction, end portions of the light incidence surfaces (20a) of the light guide plate (20), and supports the LED boards (30).
