Abstract:
In an illumination device with a plurality of illumination areas (LAb) that can control
each of the illumination areas (LAb) individually, a plurality of matrix-like LED
devices (R, G, B) are disposed in each of the illumination areas (LAb) and emits different
colors at neighboring lines and rows. Each of the illumination areas (LAb) is
partitioned by a second separation wall (Fb) and a first separation wall (outer
circumferential wall) (Kb) is provided to surround all over the illumination region.
A light diffusion plate is set at an upper portion of each of the LED devices. According
to the illumination device, the emission of uneven brightness or uneven color
is hard to occur in boundary portions of each of the illumination areas (LAb). The
illumination device is suitable for a backlight device of a liquid crystal display
apparatus (a liquid crystal television receiver, for example).
