Abstract:
Disclosed is an illumination device that prevents damage occurring to a light source therein. Specifically disclosed is a backlight device (illumination device) (12) comprising: a cold cathode tube (light source) (18) with an outer lead (external connection unit) (18c) at an end; a chassis (14) that houses the cold cathode tube (18); and a connector (relay unit) (22) that relays power supply to the cold cathode tube (18). The connector (22) is formed from a main body section (30) attached to the chassis (14), a holding section (31) that holds the outer lead (18c), and a vibration absorption section (32) that connects the main body section (30) and the holding section (31) and can also absorb vibration.
