A backlight device according to the present invention is provided with: a chassis which comprises a base plate (22a) and a side plate; an LED substrate (25) which is positioned on the base plate (22a) of the chassis in such a way that one end surface thereof faces the side plate; an LED which is positioned on the LED substrate (25) with the front side thereof serving as a light-emitting side; pattern wiring (35) which is positioned on the LED substrate (25) and is electrically connected to the LED; a first connector (31) which is positioned, from among the end sections of the LED substrate (25), on the end section at the side comprising said one end surface, and which is electrically connected to the pattern wiring (35); a second connector (32) which is electrically connected to the first connector (31) from the front side; and power source wiring (38) which is electrically connected to the second connector (32) and supplies power to the LED by way of the second connector (32), first connector (31), and pattern wiring (35).
