Abstract:
Provided is an illumination device (3) equipped with a light-emitting diode (light source) (4), a light guide plate (6), and a diffusion sheet (optical member) (10), wherein the light guide plate (6) is provided with a light incident surface (6a) which is positioned so as to face the light-emitting diode (4) such that light from the light-emitting diode (4) enters the light incident surface. The end surface (10a) of the diffusion sheet (10) is separated from the light-emitting diode (4) side at a prescribed distance relative to a light incident surface (8a) of the light guide plate (8).
