Abstract:
This illumination device (4) for an endoscope is provided with: an illumination optical system (6) having an incident surface (61a) disposed along a circumferential direction around a predetermined axis (O) as a center and provided closer to one end in the direction of the axis (O), having an emission surface (62b) disposed radially furthest from the axis (O) for radially emitting illumination light (L) incident from the light incident surface (61a), and having a diffusion surface (62a) disposed at an intermediate point on an optical path of the illumination light (L) between the incident surface (61a) and the emission surface (62b) for transmitting and diffusing the illumination light (L); and a light emitting part (5) disposed closer to the one end than the light incident surface (61a) is, for emitting the illumination light (L) toward the light incident surface (61a) generally in the direction of the axis (O).
