Provided is an illumination device in which a head part can be separately driven in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction with respect to an illumination device body, and there is no need to increase the amount of space for arranging the illumination device body and other components. This illumination device is characterized by being provided with a drive unit part (7) for connecting between an illumination device body (3) and a head part (6), and in that the drive unit part (7) is provided with first and second motors, a first motive power transmission mechanism for causing the drive unit part (7) to rotate in a horizontal direction (direction of the arrow F) by the drive force of the first motor, and a second motive power transmission mechanism for causing the drive unit part (7) to rotate in a vertical direction (direction of the arrow B) by the drive force of the second motor. Through this configuration, the head part can be separately driven in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction with respect to the illumination device body without increasing the amount of space for arranging the illumination device body and other components.
