Abstract:
An illumination device 10 comprises: a light source 15; a light path adjustment unit 30 that adjusts the light path of light from the light source; a first diffractive optical element 40A that diffracts light from the light path adjustment unit such that a first projection pattern DP1 is projected onto a projection plane PP; and a second diffractive optical element 40B that diffracts the light from the light path adjustment unit such that a second projection pattern DP2 different from the first projection pattern is projected onto the projection plane. The light path adjustment unit adjusts the light path in such a manner that light is repeatedly directed to each of the first diffractive optical element and the second diffractive optical element at time intervals shorter than the time resolution of human vision.
