Abstract:
Provided is an illumination device in which usability as a hand-held light is improved. This illumination device (1) comprises a light guide plate (13) that guides light emitted from LEDs (5a, 5b), and emits the light from an emission surface to the outside. The emission surface of the light guide plate (13) has an area that is greater than or equal to half the area of the front surface of a device body (2). When the surrounding brightness detected by a brightness sensor (3a) becomes darker than a predetermined value, a control circuit controls a lighting circuit so as to light up the LED (5a) with power supplied from a commercial power supply. When a lighting operation is performed by using a lighting switch (8), the control circuit controls the lighting circuit so as to light up the LED (5b) with power supplied from a battery. The control circuit controls the lighting circuit such that the color temperature of the LED (5b), which is lit up by power supplied from the battery, is higher than the color temperature of the LED (5a), which is lit up by power supplied from the commercial power supply.
