Abstract:
Provided is an illumination device that has low cost and a simple structure, that can be arranged in a curved interior trim member of an automobile without degrading a design property, that has little irregular-brightness and a high degree of freedom in terms of the brightness distribution, and that can perform subtle brightness control. An illumination device comprises: a light source (2); a long light guide rod (3) onto which light emitted from the light source (2) is caused to be incident; a housing (5) that accommodates the light guide rod (3); and a lens (4) that scatters light emitted from the light guide rod (3). The light guide rod (3) is flexible, is formed in a substantially linear shape and has a surface on which a light-emitting pattern for emitting light in a specific direction is formed. The housing (5) and the lens (4) are formed in a curved shape so as to fit the shape of an interior trim member. The light guide rod (3) is arranged in the interior trim member so as to be bent in a curved shape by being sandwiched between the housing (5) and the lens (4).
