Abstract:
This illumination device includes at least one light source, at least one wavelength conversion member, at least one wavelength separation filter, a light guide member, and a lens optical system. The light source emits excitation light. The excitation light from the light source enters the wavelength conversion member. The wavelength conversion member emits fluorescence having a spectrum different than that of the excitation light on the basis of the excitation light. The wavelength separation filter guides, to the wavelength conversion member, the excitation light from the light source. The fluorescence from the wavelength conversion member enters the wavelength separation filter. The light guide member has a cylindrical surface, and the fluorescence from the wavelength separation filter propagates through the inside of the light guide member surrounded by the cylindrical surface while repeatedly reflecting at the cylindrical surface. The lens optical system includes a lens on which the fluorescence emitted from the light guide member is incident, and the lens optical system causes an image of the emitting surface of the light guide member to be formed on a virtual image surface.
