Abstract:
Noise, decreased service life, and the like caused by the drive mechanism provided to this illumination optical system are suppressed. The illumination optical system is provided with: a light source (30) that generates excitation light; a fluorescent body (12) that generates fluorescent light by means of irradiation by the excitation light and that is provided across a broader region than the spot irradiated by the excitation light; a plate (14) to which the fluorescent body is provided; and a drive mechanism (20) that moves the plate in a manner so that the spot irradiated by the excitation light moves intermittently over the fluorescent body.
