Abstract:
The present invention increases the intensity of light of a wavelength differing from that of excitation light. This illumination system (1) comprises: an optical fiber (2); a first light source unit (11); a second light source unit (12); and a lamp unit (6). The optical fiber (2) has a light incident part (21), a light emitting part (22), and a wavelength conversion part (23). The wavelength conversion part (23) is provided between the light incident part (21) and the light emitting part (22). The wavelength conversion part (23) includes a wavelength conversion element which is excited by excitation light and amplifies, via amplified spontaneous emission, spontaneously emitted light that has a longer wavelength than the excitation light. The first light source unit (11) causes excitation light (P1) to be incident on the light incident part (21). The second light source unit (12) causes seed light (P2), which is for generating stimulated emission light from the wavelength conversion element excited by the excitation light (P1) and the amplified spontaneous emission, to be incident on the light incident part (21). The lamp unit (6) causes light emitted from the light emitting part (22) of the optical fiber (2) to be emitted to an external space (S1).
