Abstract:
In some situations, initial startup by a digital camera of a position acquisition function employing the GPS takes time, as a result of which it is not possible for the camera to acquire accurate position information at the moment of image capture. In addition, constant operation of the position acquisition function consumes battery power and may render it impossible to take a picture. In order to solve these problems, the present invention provides an image acquisition apparatus having a position information acquisition function and an image information acquisition function. The image acquisition apparatus is battery operated, transitions to an operating state through the operation of a power switch, and has an image information saving function by which position information regarding the image acquisition apparatus, acquired by means of the position information acquisition function, is added to image information acquired by means of the image information acquisition function, and is saved. The position information acquisition function is configured to perform position information acquisition at intervals of a first time period from the moment of installation of a battery into the image acquisition apparatus, and to change the acquisition interval of the position information acquisition function from the first time period in accordance with the operation of the power switch or the operation of the image information acquisition function.
