Abstract:
Using an optical-path-difference creation member (21), this image acquisition device (M) is capable of forming an optical-path-length difference in second image light without splitting light travelling along a second optical path (L2). The amount of light needed in said second optical path (L2) to obtain focal-position information is thus reduced, ensuring that there is enough light for a first imaging device (18) to take an image. Also, in this image acquisition device (M), rolling shutter readout and movement of a given part of a specimen (S) across the field of view (V) of an objective lens (15) are synchronized such that each pixel row (20b) of a second imaging device (20) is exposed to image light from said part of the specimen (S). The obtained image data contains contrast information that is equivalent to that which would be obtained if the focal position of the objective lens (15) were changed for the same part of the specimen (S), and on the basis of said information, focusing information can be computed quickly and precisely.
