Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to improve the accuracy of focus detection in an image capturing device using an image capturing lens including a reflective optical system. Provided is an image capturing device including: an image capturing element that captures a subject image; and a focus detection unit that performs a scan operation of moving, along the optical axis of an image capturing optical system, a focus lens included in the image capturing optical system, while calculating a focus evaluation value indicative of a focusing degree to the subject on the basis of an image signal obtained by photoelectrically converting the subject image by the image capturing element, and detecting the position of the focus lens where the focus evaluation value is maximized. When the image capturing optical system includes a reflective optical system that shields a portion of a luminous flux, the focus detection unit sets a calculation method for the focus evaluation value or a control method for the focus lens in the scan operation on the basis of information related to the shape of the reflective optical system.
