Abstract:
An image-capturing device of the present disclosure has a laminated chip structure in which at least two semiconductor chips, that are a first semiconductor chip having a pixel circuit formed therein and a second semiconductor chip having an analog-to-digital (AD) conversion circuit formed corresponding to the pixel circuit, are laminated. The AD conversion circuit has a latch circuit which holds a digital code after AD conversion, and a transmission circuit which transmits the digital code after AD conversion. A failure detection circuit is provided which detects a failure of the AD conversion circuit. The failure detection circuit writes a test pattern for failure detection into the latch circuit via the transmission circuit, then reads the test pattern from the latch circuit via the transmission circuit, and performs failure detection by comparing this read test pattern with an expected value.
