Abstract:
Provided are an image capturing device and an image processing method which can raise the correction accuracy of phase difference detection pixels, even when the phase difference detection pixels are densely disposed in the image capturing device in order to secure autofocus performance. The image capturing device has normal RGB pixels, and first and second phase difference pixels of which apertures with respect to the horizontal direction face each other and are adjacently disposed, and which have G filters disposed thereon. A pixel value adding unit (64) adds pixel values of a pair of the first and second phase difference pixels, and generates an addition pixel, which corresponds to a virtual G pixel, at an intermediate pixel location between the first and second phase difference pixels. When the first or second phase difference pixel is taken as a pixel of interest of an interpolation target, an average value interpolation unit (62) uses the addition pixel and normal pixels near the pixel location of the pixel of interest at the time of interpolating pixel values at the pixel location of the pixel of interest.
