Abstract:
This image capturing element has a plurality of pixels including a focal point detecting pixel which outputs a signal in such a way that a pair of focal point detection signals having parallax can be acquired on the basis of light flux that has passed through pupil regions of mutually different image-forming optical systems, wherein the image capturing element is characterized in that: each pixel includes at least one photoelectric conversion portion and a micro-lens optical system provided further toward the side on which light is incident than the photoelectric conversion portion; and in the shape of a main curved surface of the micro-lens optical system, a first curvature of the micro-lens optical system a first distance from the optical axis of the micro-lens optical system is greater than a second curvature of the micro-lens optical system a second distance, greater than the first distance, from the optical axis of the micro-lens optical system.
