Abstract:
In recent image coding methods, the sizes of processing units for transformation, prediction, and coding, i.e. the transform unit size, the prediction unit size, and the coding unit size, respectively correspond to a plurality of partitions. In other words, there are many combinations of the respective unit sizes. The present invention provides a method and a device with which the number of partition size candidates for an image, and the complexity of image coding are reduced by determining the transform unit size, and setting the prediction unit size and the coding unit size on the basis of the determined transform unit size.
