Abstract:
This image comparison device comprises: a storage unit which stores a model image which includes locations of feature points of an object to be compared and directions of brightness slopes in each of the feature point locations; a feature value acquisition unit which acquires locations of feature points and directions of brightness slopes in each of the feature point locations from an inputted image; and an image comparison unit which carries out a comparison between the model image and the inputted image. The image comparison unit sets allowable ranges for both the locations of the feature points and the brightness slope directions in each of the feature point locations and carries out the image comparison. It would be desirable for the image comparison device to further comprise an allowable range setting means for a user setting the allowable ranges of the locations of the feature points and the directions of the brightness slopes in each of the feature points. A comparison of a variable shape object wherein allowable changes of shape are designated more narrowly than before is thus possible.
