Abstract:
The present invention relates to an image conversion device and an image conversion method therefor. The disclosed image conversion method comprises the steps of: dividing a low-resolution image so as to generate a plurality of low-resolution image patches having N (wherein N is a natural number of 2 or more) pixels; classifying the plurality of low-resolution image patches into a plurality of image categories; converting the plurality of low-resolution image patches by using a conversion kernel corresponding to each image category among a plurality of prestored conversion matrices, so as to generate a plurality of high-resolution image patches having L (wherein L is a natural number) pixels, which is less than N pixels; and arranging the plurality of high-resolution image patches so as to generate a high-resolution image. According to one embodiment of the present invention, an operation quantity can be reduced in comparison to a prior art, and thus hardware having low complexity can be implemented. In addition, a high quality and high-resolution image can be generated regardless of characteristic information of an image signal.
