Abstract:
[Problem] To prevent problems in a three-dimensional image display due to image frame conversions for reducing black band data regions such as side panels or letterboxing. [Solution] A set top box (STB) (200) transmits three-dimensional image data transmitted by a broadcasting station (100) as broadcasting waves to a television receiver (300) via an HDMI cable (400). The STB (200) has an image frame conversion function for reducing black band data regions such as side panels or letterboxing. The STB (200) conducts image frame conversion either automatically or in response to user operation. If the image frame conversion causes a problem in displaying three-dimensional images, the STB (200) does not conduct image frame conversion. The STB (200) makes the determination not to conduct image frame conversion if the transmission method of the received image data is either a side-by-side method or a top-and-bottom method, or further, in response a request from the television receiver.
