Abstract:
The invention provides an image display apparatus that can quickly perform a bit expansion, without providing any special circuit for performing the bit expansion, so as to perform a gray scale display in accordance with display data by use of a general-purpose image display driver that drives on the basis of display data having a number of gray scales corresponding to a plurality of bits. A controller (9) is so configured as to store in display memory (12), as a gray scale code having predetermined two or greater number of bits, a combination of display data from display data output terminals (P0-P2) and fixed values from command code output terminals (C01-C05, C07-C12, C14-C17), which are not commonly connected, and to set a gray scale conversion table such that the stored gray scale code corresponds to a gray scale output value.
