Abstract:
Provided is a technology for effectively synchronizing a modulator with the rotation of a color wheel in a field-sequential projection-type video display device in which a color wheel is employed. In a projector (10), a controller (24) has a correction unit (32) and a light intensity acquisition unit (34) as a configuration for correcting shift in a reference-position-detection mark (27). The light-intensity-acquiring unit (34), connected to a light sensor (28) via a communication interface (29), acquires the results of measurements performed by the light sensor (28). The correction unit (32) carries out synchronous correction by computing the degree of shift in the reference-position-detection mark (27); i.e., the degree of shift in an index signal, on the basis of the results acquired from the light sensor (28).
