Abstract:
Disclosed is an image display device which has: a liquid crystal panel (3), which displays an image on the basis of an inputted image signal (S1); a cooling means (6), which cools the liquid crystal panel (3), and changes cooling performance corresponding to a power supply quantity; a determining circuit (1a), which determines whether the inputted image signal (S1) is a signal indicating a still image or that indicating a moving image; and control means (4, 5), which control power quantity to be supplied to the cooling means (6) corresponding to the results of the determination made by the determining circuit (1a). When it is determined by the determining circuit (1a) that the inputted image signal (S1) is a signal indicating a still image, the control means (4, 5) set the power quantity to be supplied to the cooling means (6) to a first power quantity, and when it is determined by the determining circuit (1a) that the inputted image signal (S1) is a signal indicating a moving image, the control means set the power quantity to be supplied to the cooling means (6) to a second power quantity smaller than the first power quantity.
