Abstract:
In an input image that has been split into two by an image region splitting unit (505) that is provided to the area active drive processing unit (5) of a liquid crystal display device, when the necessary backlight intensity is calculated in parallel in a first and a second region processing unit (510, 520), in one region the backlight intensity of the other region, which is not calculated, is referred to by a mutual exchange of LED data (Db1, Db2). Due to this, in cases where a particular area is illuminated by a surrounding backlight light source, the actual display intensity is accurately calculated. Therefore, an image is displayed with correct display gradation across the entire screen and a decline in display quality is prevented.
