Abstract:
A multi-display scheme image display device for displaying a complete image by displaying images on a plurality of individual screens, each using a plurality of image display units having a display panel including a plurality of display elements and a backlight including a plurality of light sources, wherein a light source luminance for each area set on the individual screen is obtained on the basis of input image data corresponding to the individual screen, backlight luminance distribution data showing the backlight luminance on each display element within the individual screen is obtained on the basis of the light source luminance, the backlight luminance distribution data is adjusted so that the backlight luminance distribution data is continuous between image display units corresponding to adjacent individual screens, panel data showing the gradation of the display element is sought on the basis of input image data and the adjusted backlight luminance distribution data, the display panel is driven on the basis of panel data, and the backlight is driven on the basis of backlight data.
