Abstract:
An image display device for dividing one frame into a plurality of sub-frames before performing a drive operation, wherein the occurrence of flickers is sufficiently prevented. This image display device is provided with: an output image data generation unit (1) for converting a frame rate of inputted image data (DIN) to generate secondary image data (DS) constituting a source from which to generate a sub-frame image, and dividing the secondary image data (DS) to generate sub-frame image data (DV); and a panel drive circuit (300) for driving a display unit (500) on the basis of the sub-frame image data (DV). The output image data generation unit (1) sets a frame rate of the secondary image data to higher than the frame rate of the inputted image data (DIN), and to 64 Hz or greater. On the display unit (500) are displayed an image equivalent to the input image data (DIN) and an interpolated image in accordance with the frame rates of the inputted image data (DIN) and the secondary image data (DS).
