Abstract:
Disclosed is a television set, which is an image display device, provided with CLUT application unit (1) and CLUT update unit (2) in EPG/OSD/reservation processor (24). After dividing one OSD field into a plurality of divided fields, CLUT application unit (1) applies CLUT to each divided region. Then, the CLUT update unit (2) updates the CLUT, applied to achieve palette animation of a certain divided field, to a different CLUT. Thus, an on-screen display method and image display device, capable of achieving high speed palette animation not based on the number of colors of the original OSD image data being used, having high resolution and efficient memory, and capable of OSD expression, are provided.
