Abstract:
Assemblability of liquid crystal display panel portions is improved. In an image display device which displays images by transmission of light radiated from behind, a liquid crystal display panel unit (227) is composed of a liquid crystal display panel (252) having a polarizing plate (251) disposed at least on the back surface, and a fine phase difference plate (253) attached to the rear surface of the polarizing plate (251) on the back surface of the liquid crystal display panel (252). The arrangement is such that an upright wall (262) defining an opening (260) in an attaching base member (223) for the above-mentioned parts cooperates with a cover member (224) to enable the liquid crystal display panel unit (227) and a dispersion plate (226) disposed on the front surface thereof to be supported by being longitudinally pressed in a region including polarizing plates (250, 251) of the liquid crystal display panel (252).
