Abstract:
Provided is an image display device which can ensure a wide viewing zone. The image display device is provided with: an image display panel; a backlight disposed on the rear side of the image display panel; a prism, which is disposed between the image display panel and the backlight, and deflects incoming light; a liquid crystal layer, which changes the deflection direction of outgoing light by changing a refractive index by corresponding to a voltage applied; a position detecting unit, which detects a position of a user; and a control unit, which controls, on the basis of positional information of the user, said positional information having been detected by means of the position detecting unit, a voltage to be applied to the liquid crystal layer.
