Abstract:
An image display device according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with light modulation elements, an optical element and a sensor unit. The optical element splits modulated light modulated by the light modulation elements into first split light and second split light that each travel in a different direction, and limits the extent to which incident light travelling along the optical path of the first split light in the opposite direction travels along the optical path of the second split light. The sensor unit is disposed in the optical path of the second split light and detects the state of the second split light.
