Abstract:
An image display unit capable of changing a viewing angle according to the intention of an observer and being used in a pachinko machine, a car navigation system and an ATM. The image display unit comprises a light emitting element (810), a polarizing filter, a Fresnel lens (812), a fine phase difference plate (802), a liquid crystal display panel (804), a polarizing plate (805), and a diffuser (806). When a position and an area where the light emitting element (810) goes on are changed, a range over which a light emitted from a light source is diffused is changed and a viewing angle at which an image can be visually recognized is changed.
