Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for image encoding/decoding using data hiding. Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for image encoding/decoding which, if a difference between the scan position of a final effective transformation coefficient in a sub-block of a current transformation unit and the scan position of an initial effective transformation coefficient exceeds a threshold value, determine an intra-prediction direction of a current encoding unit by using parity of a sum of transformation coefficients corresponding to a certain scan position in the sub-block, or correct the level of the effective transformation coefficient of any one of the transformation coefficients so that the parity of the sum of the transformation coefficients indicates the intra-prediction direction of the current encoding unit. By using a method of hiding data in the parity of an effective transformation coefficient, a bit rate is reduced, and the encoding and decoding efficiency is improved.
