Abstract:
Provided is an image feature extracting method capable of realizing an always
more beautiful compression than that of JPEG at a common compression ratio. The
image feature extracting method comprises the step of transforming a given image
into a multi-divided image by subjecting the given image to at least one k2-dividing
operation. This k2-dividing operation includes the step (a) of creating
a matrix (T) on the basis of an image matrix (X), the step (b) of calculating a singular
value of the matrix (T), the step (c) of deciding whether or not minj|σj
- σj-1| > ε holds, the step (d) of returning, in case
the decision result of the step (c) is "No", to the step (c) after the
operation to calculate the singular value of an expanded matrix Tα was
performed, the step (e) of determining the value (U) of T = USVT in case
the decision result of the step (c) is "Yes", the step (f) of determining
a matrix (T1 = UTT), and the step (g) of creating an image matrix
(X1) on the basis of a matrix (T1).
